Zoom Overview

Zoom is a cloud-based video conferencing tool you can use to virtually meet with others - either by video or audio-only or both, all while conducting live chats, and sharing your screen. It lets you record the meetings to watch later or share with others. Zoom improves student outcomes with secure video communication services for hybrid classrooms, office hours, and more. Instructors and students access Zoom through the course navigation button in a Canvas course. Topics covered in this session include:

AI Plagiarism, Cheating and Academic Integrity

Accessibility in your Canvas Course and UDOIT

A commitment to equitable teaching must extend to students with disabilities. In this session, we will discuss why you should not wait until you receive an accommodation request to design a learning experience that is inclusive of students with visual, hearing, motor, and cognitive disabilities. You will have an opportunity to practice identifying and addressing potential accessibility barriers in Word documents, PowerPoint slide decks, and Canvas pages. We will also introduce UDOIT Advantage, a tool for scanning your Canvas site, finding and addressing accessibility barriers, and even providing alternate formats for your course materials.

Kritik Overview

We will discuss how collaborative annotation with Hypothesis can be used to make student reading visible, active, and social. Topics covered in this session include:

Harmonize: creative discussion and online activities

Come join professor Johnna Murray, DBA, CPA as she discusses her experimentation with the new discussion platform, Harmonize and how it impacted her class.  This is a chance to hear from a fellow instructor who made her discussions more robust and interesting with Harmonize’s easy-to-use imagery, meme’s, built-in screen share and more.  She also can talk about how Harmonize’s AI helped make her existing discussion prompts more robust for more clear communication with her students.  And finally she’ll talk about her ambitions of other fun things she’s considering trying for the upcoming fall semester.  She’ll be joined by Harmonize’s co-founder, Marcus Popetz, who will be available to help with any demonstration required and to answer any technical questions.
