Accessibility in your Canvas Course and UDOIT

A commitment to equitable teaching must extend to students with disabilities. In this session, we will discuss why you should not wait until you receive an accommodation request to design a learning experience that is inclusive of students with visual, hearing, motor, and cognitive disabilities. You will have an opportunity to practice identifying and addressing potential accessibility barriers in Word documents, PowerPoint slide decks, and Canvas pages. We will also introduce UDOIT Advantage, a tool for scanning your Canvas site, finding and addressing accessibility barriers, and even providing alternate formats for your course materials.

Canvas updates and enhancements

This session will go over the recent updates and enhancements that became available in Canvas during the summer. This session will include changes deployed during the months of June and July, such as discussions redesign, updates to the dashboard, SpeedGrader, and more.

A Visual Tour of Ways to Meet the QCR Rubric

In this session, Missouri Online designers showcase examples of actual courses from across UM System and the many ways they’ve met the Quality Course Review rubric. We examine samples of course orientation, establishing faculty presence, communicating learning outcomes, establishing an instructional narrative, and notable course layouts.

This session is intended for faculty looking for ideas for their online courses as well as faculty who expect to submit a course for Quality Course Review.
